We’ve worked with people who hired us to develop strategies, improve systems, and make things happen. Interestingly it didn’t work. It didn’t work because there’s no point in creating a strategy, writing papers, or trying to make things happen if an organisation and its employees or board are not willing to change. They may say they are but it turns out that they are not. And this is their achilles heel. This is also true for personal and career challenges. You may think you are stuck in a rut. You hire coaches, go to counselling, complain to friends, family and anybody who will listen about your lousy life - but you can’t admit to yourself that you need to change. In order to make things happen something has to change - and in most cases it is you. This may sound harsh and it may sound like we’re making out that it is easy - it’s not. Changing yourself is probably the hardest and the easiest (because you are in control and not somebody else) thing you’ll ever do in your life.
So begin with honesty. Honesty with yourself. Do you want that promotion? Or that new house? Or new job? Those things are within your reach. However, you will only get them if you are willing to change. It is scary. Your life will never be the same again. But isn’t that the aim? You want to change your life? Then you need to say goodbye to your current life. Be willing to let it go. It is like a weight lifting off your shoulders while at the same time has fear. As Susan Jeffers says - Feel the fear and do it anyway. You go Wonder Woman! We know you can do it and your life will be the better for it! Comments are closed.
