We’re watching Netflix’s GLOW at the moment. It’s set in 1980s LA and revolves around a crew of misfit women who reinvent themselves as the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. The thing that stood out and really resonated with us Wonder Women was that they each developed their own wrestling characters but based on who they truly were. Like they had to be themselves before they could be successful. This is also true for our work personas. It is when we are authentic that we are remarkable, charismatic, attractive. But how many times do we pretend to be somebody else? Wear clothes that we don’t like or feel ourselves in because we think it is what is expected? Act in a way at work that we think is ‘professional’?
How about trying something different? How about truly being ourselves? It is the brave thing to do but ultimately leads to a happier you and a more successful career. You go Wonder Woman! Photo courtesy of Mark Leslie Comments are closed.
