You are a shining star. The world needs that special gift that only you have (as Marie Forleo says!). And being you is the easiest thing for you to be!
Being authentic and genuine in the workplace is key to securing the job you want, building a successful career, and enjoying a strong professional network. However, we often fall into the trap of thinking we should be different in the workplace. That it’s not a place to be ourselves but a place to be professional. It’s as if we think that our true selves are not professional. It can be particularly true for women as most of our seniors are men and so we think to get on in our career we should be more like them.
We remember a time where we even started dressing like men to look more professional! So the first step in recovering our authentic selves is to explore who we are. What makes us the Wonder Women that we are? How do our family, friends, colleagues describe us? Gather positive feedback that you have received during your career. Dig out old emails, dust off old work appraisals, and actively seek feedback from those you trust to give honest feedback. What themes come out from these? These are your shining light. These are a reflection of your wonderfulness. The you that the world needs.
We Are All Wonder Women is an international movement for female conservation professionals to be inspired, connected, and empowered to create an authentic, fulfilling and happy career.
