How many decisions about your career are made without you being in the room? You would expect that for most important career decisions you’d actually be physically present, right? But that’s not always true. Most of the decisions made by your bosses and seniors about the progress of your career are going to be taken without you even being there.
It is so easy to get caught up in the momentum of life and to forget to look after ourselves. So we’ve put together a list of ten small, simple things to rebalance your day and build self-care into a busy schedule.

We all know someone who is always complaining. They enter a room and a wave of negativity appears to ride over everyone in their path. Like a poison invading your personal space, this negativity gets into your head and into your thoughts. These people seem to relish in despair and focus on how bad their life is. At the same time, they are influencing how you feel. They seek validation for their negativity, and as human beings, we can find it difficult not to get pulled in.
When you think of the word meditation, what comes to mind? Sitting cross-legged in an idyllic setting maintaining a zen-like state of peace? Or perhaps you think of some kind of Buddhist-type retreat with chanting and the gentle ting of finger cymbals? Many of us see meditation as a luxury, even an indulgence - and definitely for somebody else! How are we supposed to fit this into our busy lives, when we barely have enough time to relax as it is?! This was my perception of meditation until a few months ago.
The phrase ‘capacity building’ is bandied around in international circles. ‘We’ll build capacity’ we say as if it’s the most straightforward thing in the world. But what do we mean by this? And are we actually helping nature conservation and our fellow conservationists?
Every day we are faced with obstacles or obstructions to our path. Sometimes these obstacles are small, maybe the bus is a few minutes late, or you spill your coffee and have to clean up the mess. Sometimes they are more significant. Someone lets you down and your project misses a deadline, your car breaks down, or even worse, a relationship breaks down.
